Every time I feel the chill in the morning air on my way to work and the strong winds on my face while I walk back to the bus stop in the evening I make a mental note to myself, “Fall will be here soon, need to get my Fall stuff out”. But other than the self reminder nothing has been happening on my end not even a quick brainstorming session on what I’d be doing. And then this afternoon as I was checking my Outlook calender it dawned on me that the first day of Fall is next Tuesday! Talk about the world’s worst procrastinator. Actually, the last several years I’ve been nothing but a procrastinator. Don’t get me wrong I used to be a big one and hard core one at that but ever since I discovered the joys of planning ahead and organizing my time it has been hard to keep things to the last minute. My days are chock-full with literally every minute accounted for and I like it that way. The biggest drawback to this tight schedule is when we run into road bumps and all the planning goes haywire. That’s what has been happening for the last couple of months. I have at least 7 projects that are at various stages of completion lying around different parts of the house. To tell you the truth I only realized how many there were ‘coz I had to clean them up for the cleaners to “clean the house”. The point is I NEED to start decorating for Fall (don’t see much happening this weekend due to other commitments but will try to squeeze some small projects in).
So, what were we going to talk about? Huh…pumpkins. Halloween pumpkins to be exact. Over the years we have tried the regular Jack O Lantern,
and simple and more on the craftier side a box kit Mummy Pumpkin. Then all of sudden I jumped ship to the adventurous side and that year we had our Pumpkin Witch, Sandy. Isn’t she pretty?
Last year we had a barfing pumpkin that we had a ball creating,
and my daughter’s contribution, the devil pumpkin.
By the way last year an enthusiastic WUHS reader, Divya, made a much better version of the Barfing pumpkin. Look at all that barf!!!!!!!!;)
I even tried my hand at a Pumpkin centerpiece.
What will it be this year? What do you think I should do? The crafty me would have preferred a painted pumpkin but I know that’ll be too tame for my kiddos. They are big on the gross and weird factor. If it doesn’t meet either of the criteria I’m gonna have a tough time convincing them. Maybe an evil looking carved pumpkin like this?
