“One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it brings.”― W.E. Johns

Can’t argue with that statement…As soon as the weather gets warmer the garden is the only thing on my mind. Along come thoughts of adding new plants, veggies, decorative accents, and color to the garden. After I maxed out my planting space last year with an over haul of the back yard bed, this year I was left with zero space for new plants. 🙁 What’s a good gardener to do in a situation like this? Make new beds of course. 🙂 And that’s exactly what we did. The space used to look like this before.

We extended the the bed on the left side of the house all the way to the driveway, which means more plants. 🙂 I cheated big time and got 2 peony plants complete with buds. I know I know… should have planted in Fall but couldn’t resist. 🙂

It is the bright Fuchsia General MacMahon Peony. Can’t wait to see the blooms open.

Other additions to the bed include Flower Carpet Scarlet roses

and Venice Blue Speedwell, a Spring flowering perennial that thrives in heat.

Along with a couple of tickweed and impatiens.

Keeping them company are loads of Dutch Irises and few Oriental Star gazer lilies. Busted my back planting all those bulbs over the weekend.

The plan is to eventually add this 29″ outdoor Buddha Statue* in that empty spot next to the corner of the L shaped path. Meanwhile I’m happy with all the plants that already in bloom.

Don’t you absolutely love these perennials that keep coming back every year? No maintenance yet totally trustworthy!

I do still like to add punches of color with some showy annuals.
