I hate, hate, hate (say it a million times) doing laundry. That’s one chore that I can never ever like. You know what is even worse? B hates it even more! When the washed clothes pile up a mile high in all the 3 bins in our laundry room (not counting the load in the dryer) I finally break down and fold everything. And in two days the clothes start piling up again!
Now, you know why I haven’t shown you the pics of our laundry room. 😉 No worries, will post a pic of our laundry mountain soon. I’ve heard a lot of the other bloggers say that redoing their laundry room have inspired them to keep up on the chore or at the very least have made it less painful. You think I should try that?
Ours is a window less, sink less small room with an LG top load washer and a front load LG dryer. So whenever I spot a laundry room with a window and a sink like this, I feel so darn jealous!
All pics courtesy HouzzAs you can see a front load washer and dryer stacked on top of each other saves a lot of space. We had a very similar arrangement in our old home and it worked wonders in our tiny laundry space. When were in the market for a washer /dryer for this home we wanted something diff and high capacity and went with the side by side front load washer. I’m really happy with the machines except for the space constraints.
For this post, I was trying to find other laundry rooms with the same washer/ dryer configuration as mine and see what they did to solve their storage issues. Upper cabinets like these are a good option but not sure if B would get on board with the DIY involved.
I’m also tempted to go wild in the room and use bold wall paper as in this pic.
Another option is to add open shelving above the washer/ dryer.
Or at least a small thinner shelf.
How about adding a cheerful paint and a fancy light fixture? Will that make the chore a little easier to swallow?
Will all these changes make me want to do laundry? I doubt it. No harm in trying though, right? What do you say?

This is so funny, I feel the same way you do.. I posted a blog about the dreaded “L” word. I created an garden theme in my area to psych myself to believing i like doing laundry. You can see my area if you visit my blog.. http://www.vivalavintageforyourhome.wordpress.com. It helped a little, but, I still haven’t convinced myself it’s fun.
