I tell ya it was a race against the clock to finish this room for today’s post. Without much ado come on in;
All of it thanks to the beautiful vintage style newspaper wallpaper from wallpaper direct!
This was my first time ever using wall paper and after reading up on how you have to paste the paper and try to align the lines I was dead scared to try. Contrary to my expectations wall papering was super simple and was the easiest project that I’ve done recently. I think the best part was that this fabulous wall paper was “paste on the wall” kind. Did you know you can actually roll the glue onto the wall with a roller (like paint) and then just glue on the wall paper? The only tricky part is aligning the lines for which you do need some patience. More on that here.
If you forgot, this is what we started with (pre-blog pic).
I love how much lighter the room is now!
You might remember the mirror from this post. That make over was a real tough one. All frames except the medium black and white one was from Goodwill. We got the caricature of the kiddos done during our San Diego visit. The horizontal large frame used to be on our floating shelf in the family room. The small red and black frames are the same ones in here, my latest thrift store finds totally given a face lift.
Oh and the black and white pics of the Brooklyn and GW bridges are from the internet that we printed on photo paper from the Office Depot. I introduced you to our rhino here.
Now for the before and after parade.
The magic of the mirror upgrade!
One more…
I couldn’t be more happier about changing my decision to wall paper this room instead of the laundry room. I’m so in love with that wall paper.

The best comment: From my daughter; “Amma, now I don’t need to take books to the bathroom. I can just read off the walls!” 🙂
PS: I’m taking the rest of the week off and will be back on Dec 2nd with an awesome giveaway (we are celebrating the 2nd blog birthday a month early)! I have a lot of Christmas fun planned for you through December. So you would have to wait till Jan for the details on this makeover. Happy Thanksgiving!
