Scouting Craigslist – Episode #21

November 4, 2013 By Vidya 2 Comments

It’s that time of the month again, our round up of Craigslist bargains from around the country. Starting off with the DC area where this 36.5″ long solid wood desk/table was listed for $35. All it needs is some paint love and you can use it as a sofa or console table or even as a small desk.

In New York city you’ll find this beautiful vintage side table for $80. Per the seller, the top is wood and dark brownish red/burgundy leather. Look at all the detail on the bottom shelf!

Chicago seems to be the place to land awesome stuff for FREE. Yeah, you read that right (check out our earlier posts here and here). Now we have this mid century modern lover’s dream of a dresser for free. Yes it does need so love and elbow grease but if nothing is broken or split I would scoop it up in a heartbeat.

Found another free deal, this time in Denver. A seven piece Pennsylvania House antique cherry full bedroom set; headboard & foot board with pineapple finials, eight drawer chest, seven drawer desk, mirror, frame, and a desk stool. Not a big fan of the whole set but I would definitely take a second look at that pineapple finial headboard and foot board. Again a good paint job is warranted. You could go with a navy or gray paint?

Bamboo furniture seems to be back in vogue these days. I like it because it reminds me of my childhood and because the clean lines and curves easily mix with our transitional pieces. Still not convinced? Maybe you could try painting the furniture like I did on my side table? That will surely bring it up to 2013. Imagine this bamboo desk in a glossy finish in an emerald green or bright orange-red or even black. For $50 in San Diego, won’t you agree that is an awesome find?
