A Blog Birthday & A New Year

January 6, 2016 By Vidya Leave a Comment

A Blog Birthday & A New Year

As 2016 rolled in so did the 4th blog birthday of Whats Ur Home Story! Can you believe that I started this journey back in 2012? By now the blog feels like second nature to me. It has become an every day part of my family’s life, one that all of us discuss in one way or the other during the day/week.

So how is my 5th year of blogging going to be different from the rest? Content wise it is pretty much staying the same. However the tech side of things is gonna be a totally different story. It was recently brought to my attention that the backend of my blog has a lot of loose ends. The first task of the year is gonna be cleaning these up. Something I should have looked into long ago given that the blog is now an LLC and in the final stages of the trademarking process.

It is a mundane and labor intensive task where I have to go back and review all 788 posts (how did I write that many?) to make sure that the content is relevant, SEO friendly etc. Yup….interesting stuff, not. Unfortunately it is not a task that I feel comfortable outsourcing. You see, the best person to know my content is me so I’ll have to do this myself. What this means for my readers is, due to all this backend work I have on my plate I’ll be posting only once a week, on wednesdays. Come Spring I think I’ll be able to resume my regular posting schedule. Meanwhile I’m also working on a special newsletter series for my dear subscribing readers.

Projects wise, I covered a lot of ground over the holidays; finishing up the zipper pillows in the family room, recovering the kitchen barstool chairs with the Chiang Mai fabric, growing paperwhites and amaryllis in water etc. Still need to get the Elfa closet system for the master bedroom closets. We are now talking about updating our dining room furniture and even the office room. Did I tell you sometime ago the cleaners ripped my beloved zebra rug while vacuuming? 🙁 With all these projects looming ahead I’m already feeling like this is going to be a great year. Can’t wait to share the fun with y’all!

How is the new year treating you? Did you have a good holiday break? Any one else celebrating blog birthdays this month?
